Hunt Hot Line Masters: Tot Goodwin |
|
. |
Welcome to the Green Creek Hounds The Green Creek Hounds was founded in 1988 by Margaret "Peg" Secor. Her intention was to get back to the grassroots of foxhunting, providing good sport as a natural part of the rural environment. In 1989 she was joined as Master by her husband Dick Secor and a short time later by John Burgess. The pack was composed of drafts from different hunts and was hunted by the Masters and an occasional guest huntsman. In 1990 the Masters convinced Jefferson "Tot" Goodwin to come for a temporary stay to give them a hand training their pack and starting a breeding program. He brought with him some of his own hounds which became the foundation of the hounds we have today. He liked this task so well that he was talked into staying and has been here ever since. With his guidance and careful breeding, Green Creek Hounds has one of the finest pack of hounds in the country today. After Dick Secor left and John Burgess died unexpectedly, Peg continued alone until an accident prompted her to ask Nan Hull and Pat Hale to step in and help run the hunt while she was incapacitated. A year later, in January 1997 she convinced them to become Masters and before she bowed out they made "Tot" the third Master. Nan met the man of her dreams and moved to Germany, so Pat and Tot started wooing Tom Jackson, who for six years would come from Atlanta to hunt. He finally agreed and moved here to became Master in 2000. In the summer of 2007 Roger B. Smith, the hunts largest Landowner and most enthusiastic supporter, agreed to come on board as a Master.
We do extend our sincerest thanks to our Landowners for graciously allowing us to hunt their lands. |
